<image:caption>Animal rescue has always been an important part of my life. I grew up with dogs, almost all rescues. our next door neighbor was one of the culprits: she helped run the county animal shelter. She encouraged our barky household. Currently i have sophie, a six-year-old cattle dog mix from the foothills animal shelter, and rufus, a boxer-rottie mix rescued from abandonment in a nearby denver alley. in 2016 I began my blog therufusfiles.com to highlight the fun as well as the challenges of having rescue dogs. why is it called "the rufus files" and not "The sophie files?" simple. sophie makes dog ownership look remarkably easy. aside from barking at the occasional squirrel or mailman, she is pretty low maintenance. rufus, on the other hand, has not been quite as easy, but he is a great dog and has proven worth the time and effort he has required. check out the blog and leave a comment if you wish!</image:caption>
